Three Thread, Diamond, and Chainstitch

These three techniques of hand guided embroidery create this lovely white multi-textured cotton flower on a white linen ground. The pattern is drawn, perforated, and stamped before stitching begins. Three thread uses a core filler that is wrapped with multiple strands of thread.

The chainstitch puts two lines of thread on the surface of the fabric for every single line on the back, giving greater coverage and less bulk to the embroidery. Diamond stitch uses a custom braid, which is secured by an overwrap of gimp, adding two textures to the creation.
